Ventura Film Festival Showcasing International Award-Winning Cinema to Ventura County

The Ventura Film Festival has earned recognition as "the biggest cinematic celebration ever hosted in Ventura County." This prestigious recognition underscores the event's devotion to bringing diverse cinema to the local community while sustaining its commitment to significant environmental challenges.

The Ventura Film Festival exists as an open genre international film festival that raises awareness for environmental issues such as forest and ocean preservation and restoration, through a yearly film festival and related events. The festival leverages the impact of filmmaking to stimulate involvement and develop substantial discourse on these urgent ecological issues.

The Ventura Film Festival was founded in 2004 and has presented countless films, commonly surpassing 200 films each summer, and has generated excitement within the international film community. From its beginning, the festival has developed into an important cultural gathering that connects film artists, environmental champions, and spectators from every corner of the planet.

Distinguished events have encompassed featuring distinguished filmmaker Dylan O'Neil, the pioneering world champion surfers Peter "PT" Townend together with Ian Cairns, quadruple world champion Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu/MMA athlete Fabio Leopoldo, and the 50-year anniversary of West Side Story, which comprised receiving the full Academy Award winning cast from West Side Story, featuring Oscar winner/Golden Globe winner George Chakiris as well as Golden Globe winner/Academy Award nominee Russ Tamblyn. The founding executive director of the Ventura Film Festival website was honored to take part, alongside numerous Hollywood elite, in the 50-year anniversary event of West Side Story and Hollywood's iconic footprint/handprint ceremony celebrating Academy Award winners Rita Moreno, George Chakiris, as well as Golden Globe champion Russ Tamblyn at the famous Chinese Theater in Hollywood. This event also doubled as the official BluRay introduction by Fox and MGM of the beloved West Side Story, which is widely considered by critics and fans to be the greatest musical of all time.
